Gentle ante natal yoga classes are held at Kingston Hospital on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. The antenatal exercise classes are led by Midwives who are trained in YMCA and RSA exercise classes. The Antenatal Yoga classes are led by Licia Catinelli, our Yoga teacher who is certified to teach general as well as antenatal classes.
All the Midwives who teach these classes work in the Maternity Unit and can answer any questions you may have about your pregnancy or our services. Labour preparation and birth preparation are also included in the class with a focus on using exercise during labour. Licia Catinelli also works in the Women and Child Unit and her classes pay particular attention to breathing, joints freeing and relaxation. Breathing and relaxation can be used in labour.
Many women find the classes useful to unwind and relieve aches and stiffness from the pregnancy. The stretching and relaxation element of the class allows you to relax and concentrate on your baby. Apart form staying healthy these classes are a great opportunity to meet and socialise with other mums. We will do our best to accommodate you and book you onto a block of classes with other women at a similar stage of pregnancy.
Classes are suitable from 12th week of pregnancy until you give birth.
How much do classes cost?
Classes are run in 6 week blocks and cost £60, with the opportunity to continue after six weeks on an ad-hoc basis if you wish for £10 for each class. Confirmation of your booking will be sent to you in the post.
