Unfortunately, this is not necessarily possible on all occasions. We are currently developing smaller teams of integrated midwives.
These integrated teams will provide care in the ante natal, intra partum and post natal periods. The aim is that throughout your pregnancy, including at the birth, you receive care from a small team of midwives and see the same familiar faces. These teams will be rolled out over an 18 month period and will help promote continuity of care.
However, at the current time there is always the possibility that you may have met the midwife looking after you in labour.
