Breastfeeding is arguably the single most important public health measure on the planet, and yet so many women in the UK struggle to breastfeed. Access to good support and information is crucial and this is where the helpline comes in to support other services. This service will work alongside services provided by the NHS, in the same way as we work alongside the NHS in Primary Care Trusts and hospitals.
2   Link   Association of Breastfeeding Mothers
Our counselling helpline is run by fully trained volunteer breastfeeding counsellors taking calls in their own homes. All our volunteers have breastfed their own baby and completed extensive training in breastfeeding matters.
3   Link   La Leche League
La Leche League is for you if you are expecting a baby and want to know more about breastfeeding; You are already breastfeeding and want help with challenges; You need information on starting solids or weaning; You want to meet other breastfeeding mums to share support and experiences; You are interested in reading more about breastfeeding, birth and parenting...
4   Link   National Childbirth Trust - Breastfeeding: A good start
Breastfeeding is a skill that you and your baby learn. Newborn babies have instincts that help them to breastfeed and mothers have instincts too – but many of us have seen more bottle-feeding than breastfeeding and feel uncertain what to do.

How many birth partners can be present?

It is always possible for you to have your birth partner present. However, we try to limit it to a maximum of two birth partners. It can become very crowded and for safety reasons it may become difficult if the numbers are greater than 2.
