In the Transitional Unit you are able to look after your baby even if the baby requires a variety of supportive measures previously only provided in the Neonatal Unit, for example blood glucose monitoring or intravenous antibiotics.

Babies who are small or large for their gestational age and babies of less than 36 weeks can be cared for on this ward. If you need to stay in with your baby from the Neonatal Unit prior to going home, you will be allocated the single room on this ward.
The staff caring for the women and their babies includes a multidisciplinary team of Midwives, Staff Nurses from Neonatal Unit, Nursery Nurses and Maternity Support Workers, Paediatricians and Obstetricians.
