In the Midwife Assessment Triage (Triage), we provide individualised advice and assessment to women in early labour both over the telephone and/or face-to-face. It is staffed by a senior midwife who will ask questions to ensure you and your baby are well. You may or may not be asked to come into hospital.
When asked to attend, your care is prioritised according to needs and we aim to see you within 30 minutes.
For more information about early labour, for example what to expect, coping strategies and when to contact the midwife, click here or refer to the “booking and antenatal” section of your maternity notes.
Also, if something is not quite right (e.g. suddenly starting to have an unusual pain, bleeding) and you want to speak to someone please get in touch with DAU or Triage out of hours.
Before 18 weeks, please contact your GP/midwife or in an emergency attend A&E.
